Competitive Coach

Star 1- Gold Freelance Coach

CanSkate Coach

I began skating at a young age and quickly fell in love with the sport, dedicating myself to competitive training and development. Over the years, I had the privilege of representing Canada and my province at various national and international events. My skating career highlights include being a 3-time National Medallist, a Canada Winter Games Novice Champion, and an Ontario Winter Games Novice Champion. I was honored to be a two-time International Medallist, place in the top 10 at a Junior Grand Prix event, and proudly represent Canada as a Junior National Team Member.

My professional career extended beyond competition, where I performed in six contracts as a Principal Skater with Royal Caribbean and as a Principal Skater with Holiday On Ice. I have completed my Senior Freeskate Test along with Skate Canada’s Gold Freeskate and Gold Skills Tests.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Business minor from the University of Waterloo, and I continue to apply that academic background to my coaching philosophy and leadership on and off the ice.

As a coach, I’m certified as a Provincial Coach (NCCP Level 2 Certified) and currently pursuing my National Coach Certification (NCCP Level 3 - In Training). I am also Skate Canada CanSkate and Regional Certified.

Throughout my coaching journey, I’ve had the invaluable opportunity to be mentored by Olympic-level coaches such as Robin Wagner, Kris and Kristy Wirtz, and Manion Perion. I’ve also collaborated with world-renowned choreographers including David Wilson, Yuka Sato, Mark Pillar, and Robin Wagner.

I’ve worked with skaters of all levels, from Pre-CanSkate to Senior Competitive, guiding Provincial and Challenge-level athletes in singles. My goal as a coach is to help skaters build not only technical proficiency and competitive confidence but also a lasting love for the sport. I’m committed to continuing my coaching development while helping each skater achieve their full potential in a supportive and inspiring environment.

I have been involved in the sport of figure skating for over 20 years, and it continues to be a lifelong passion of mine. As a competitive skater, I was honored to become the 2013 U.S. Junior Pairs National Champion, and throughout my career, I earned 8 National and International medals. I am also proud to be a three-time Sportswomen of Colorado award recipient for achievements in figure skating.

In recognition of my dedication and versatility in the sport, I have achieved all four of U.S. Figure Skating’s Gold Medals—in Freestyle, Moves in the Field, Dance, and Pairs.

With over 6 years of coaching experience, I am passionate about helping skaters develop strong fundamentals, confidence, and a love for skating. Whether working on early development skills or refining advanced techniques, I strive to provide a positive and motivating environment where skaters can grow and thrive.

Outside of coaching, I hold an Associate’s Degree in Holistic Health and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management with a Minor in Exercise Science. This background allows me to bring a well-rounded, athlete-focused perspective to my coaching approach—emphasizing not only technical growth but also physical and mental well-being.

I’m very excited to be coaching at the Tillsonburg Skating Club and look forward to working with new and returning skaters this season. I am available for private lessons on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.  Please contact me at britneyvsimpson@gmail.com for more details.

Off-Ice Coach

CanSkate Coach & Fast Track Coach

I've had a passion and love for figure skating since I was 5; when I came to the rink with my mom and steppend on the Tillsonburg arena in the Learn to Skate program.  Quickly from there I fell in love with everything to do with the sport.

I then spent the next 15 years practicing the sport at the Tillsonburg, London and Hamilton Skating Clubs to better develop my skills.   I have completed my Gold Levels in Dance, Skills, Interpretive and Free Skate.

In 2015, I attended the Ontario Winter Games, was the 205 Western Ontario Bronze Medalist in Pre-Novice Women and went on to compete at the Canadian Nationals.  I continued my skating career competing in Junior Women until 2019.

Figure Skating is unique yet technical sport that requires hard work and determination.  Through my knowledge and work ethic my mission is to make the skaters the best they can be not only on the ice but off ice as well.

“I began skating at the Tillsonburg Skating Club when I was just four years old, and ever since then, this club has been a second home to me. As a skater, I had the opportunity to compete competitively, as well as on the Western Ontario Provincial team for multiple years. During this time, I also completed Skate Canada’s Gold Freeskate and Elements test. Keeping my passion for the sport alive, I thrived on the challenge of constantly pushing myself to exceed and improve my skills over time. Currently I am studying at the University of Waterloo where I also train on their Varsity Figure Skating Team training a solo, high pairs, fours and synchro.

As a coach, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share my passion for skating with others. It brings me joy to introduce young athletes to the exciting world of sports and be able to watch their skills develop over time. I’m eager to continue expanding my coaching career and take on new challenges, helping skaters reach their full potential.”

From a young age I developed a love for figure skating, finding the technical and artistic components of skating to be a perfect balance. I began skating at age 5 and continued to develop my skills throughout the next twelve years. In 2019, I became the Ontario Provincial Champion in the Star 8 Women’s category, which I consider to be one of my greatest life accomplishments.

Once I left Tillsonburg to attend university, I continued figure skating, where I was a member of the University of Toronto Varsity Figure Skating team. I was a member of that team when we earned the gold medal at the Ontario University Athletics championships in 2022.

I have continued indulging my love of the ice by gaining coaching credentials, which allow me to connect with skaters. I enjoy guiding skaters in developing both on-ice skills as well as life lessons in areas such as determination and creativity. I believe figure skating is a sport that has so much to provide individuals, and I strive to encourage a love of learning and determination that will lead to positive results both on and off the ice.
